***it's not hogwash***
it's real.....for those that don't see Hedgehogs very often or never have ever...then here you are ...Mandi to the rescue once again......Brian my hubby found baby hog 1 out in the afternoon...a definate no no...these guys are only about 4 weeks old and the size of an orange and feeding in daylight means they are in distress besides they should still be with mother.....anyway called Hog lady helper to get her to take to the Main Hog lady who takes care of them until they are large enough to be returned here they're always released back from where they came...No sooner had she gone then Hog 2 shows up...smaller and lighter.....so main Hog lady comes this time to pick up....not long after well a couple of hours I see Hog 3....no photo cos was busy looking for 4&5 just in case but didn't see them....picked up a larger Hog though as it looked not very strong and wobbly....she was a girl but don't think it was mom cos couldn't see any used nipples....anyway Hog lady back again to pick them up so hope that will be that for now.....Perhaps mom is still around cos saw Hog poo down the path but just don't know ....these guys travel miles anyway so it could have come from anywhere.....
just as well they were found anyway as blowflies had laid eggs on their underbelly and we all know what happens when the hatch...so they will be combed off and Hogs will be fattened up and home they will come to live happily ever after.....
if they can avoid getting squished.....we're bang in the middle of the parish and there are two roads either side of the property.....Parish hall to the north.....us on the rectory grounds in the middle and the church on the south with two big glebe fields on the east and west so almost an oasis.....though once you get across the roads after a few houses are more fields so hogs do get a chance....anyway nature lesson over.....am off hog watching....toodleooooooo
