***hope***

for all people who have not had a very nice Christmas...and I know some of those people and think it really a shame that things do go wrong ....squabbles.... quarrels....fall outs big and small....even for people who don't know each other well and when one ought to be enjoying the season of goodwill it all goes to pot...well maybe now that can change....2008 is a turning point for us all....we can try to be better people ...we can try to take care of our fragile planet some more ...we can try to amend friendships that broke down... we can try to be families once again and we can try to be kind at all times.....for with out trying we will never know if change is possible and I believe in possibilities....so people all around smile and open your hearts for hope and change and the change will be just around the corner....well at 12 tonight....and 1 and 2 and 3.15 and every minute of every day for the next year and beyond

***after Christmas***

and having had a lovely time with everyone and hoping you guys did as well.....one thing that made my day was seeing my god-daughter....she looks so sweet and seeing her made me realise how much I really do miss her.....I made her an apron which is shown below but as I wasn't there when she opened it I am not sure whether she liked it or not...I hope so....

we had a great time at the in-laws to be...lots to eat and drink and not too late a night which was really good as we were so tired after doing crib service...midnight mass and Christmas service...a well deserved break is now being had....loved to hear the bells being rung over the two days much to the disgust of a particular neighbour I am sure....but hey who cares...If they don't like perhaps they should move....anyway New Year soon to come....so hopeful not too many headaches on the agenda
so if I don't see you soon I will next year...so until then

*** pressy time***

and this apron is what I made for a certain someone whom I can't mention cos they might find out.....but it is a relative and I thought this would be very useful as that person is a right messy so and so in the kitchen...It is made from thick cotton and I love it...it is my own design and am well happy with how it turned out....
I think the fabric might be unused upholstery check so I might even cover some old deckchairs with it...I shall see...perhaps just more of these....it's the final countdown to Christmas so I hope you lot are all ready...I AM NOT....but am not really toooo worried

will show you another little pinny I made next time....have a lot to show you really it's just time is getting on so take care and....

***our first frost***

and I love it....it looks so pretty tho being out in it is another matter....will have to as we have a lot of gravel to shift.....it amazes me how all those dear little crystals form and I wish I could get a much closer picture of all those little bits...to be honest I think I was pushing my luck a bit anyhow.....what would have you thought if you had seen a dishevelled woman robed in her white dressing-gown and fluffy slippers, on her hands and knees in the Rectory grounds at eight in the morning taking photos of whiteness.....certifiable!!!!! I shall have to watch myself...one never knows who is watching and I wouldn't want our new Rector to think our parish was strange now would I !!!!!.....

I think my camera did a fair job.....shame about the camerawoman......

***tra-lalalalala***

and all that stuff.....am I so naughty or what....I have not been blogging for a awhile and can only assume I am slack-busy-bored-or have nothing of interest to say.....maybe all of those or maybe none...ummmm...tho to be fair I have been doing a fair amount of sewing and we had the induction of our new Rector so one might imagine that kept us all busy....and the winds .....those winds over the last few days have been amazing and disastrous....one squall blew open an old slingback window in our cottage which pushed a vintage crystal candelabra from the windowsill to the floor....it lays shattered into un mendable pieces and needless to say I am not amused.....so will be busy hunting down replacement bobeches etc and that is not an easy feat......have seen the same cut design and sized diameter but the middle hole is the tricky one ...I need a half inch in centre hole and all are around an inch....what a fafff.....
anyway here is a Christmas sack I made and put on e-bay but no one wanted to buy it....It is tartan wool and smells of cinnamon cos I sewed cinnamon scented buttons inside one of the pockets...have been making other stuff too so will show you them soon....

will keep you posted so until then

***this funny old world***

The European Commission has just announced an agreement whereby English will be the official language of the European Union rather than German, which was the other possibility.

As part of the negotiations, the British Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a 5- year phase-in plan that would become known as "Euro-English".

In the first year, "s" will replace the soft "c". Sertainly, this will make the sivil servants jump with joy. The hard "c" will be dropped in favour of "k". This should klear up konfusion, and keyboards kanhave one less letter.

There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year when the troublesome "ph" will be replaced with "f". This will make words like fotograf 20% shorter.

In the 3rd year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kanbe expekted to reach
the stage where! more komplikated changes are possible. Governments will enkourage the removal of double letters which have always ben a deterent to akurate speling.

Also, al wil agre that the horibl mes of the silent "e" in the languag is disgrasful and it should go away.

By the 4th yer people wil be reseptiv to steps such as replasing "th" with "z" and "w" with "v".

During ze fifz yer, ze unesesary "o" kan be dropd from vords kontaining "ou" and after ziz fifz yer, ve vil hav a reil sensi bl riten styl. Zer vil be no mor trubl or difikultis and evrivun vil find it ezi tu understand ech oza. Ze drem of a united urop vil finali kum tru.
Und efter ze fifz yer, ve vil al be speking German like zey vunted in ze forst plas.

If zis mad you smil, pleas pas on to oza pepl
